Join Connecticut Programs and
Become an Electrician

If you live in Connecticut, the Connecticut programs is a great way to become an electrician.

Connecticut programs for apprenticeships is administered by Department of Labor through Regional Apprenticeship Representatives.

As an electrician apprentice you will be paid on-the-jobtraining and academic instruction that will prepare you the skills needed in your chosen trade.

Please take the time to review your responsibilities below and you should be on your way to the opportunity of a lifetime!

Make sure you receive a copy of your approved registered electrician apprentice agreement from your sponsor (employer).

This is your record of registration and lists important information such as your wage progression, trade registration category and any credit for previous registered experience (unregistered work hours are not counted toward the completion of the program).

Also make sure you obtain your electrician apprentice identification card from your sponsor after your registration is approved.

You must carry a valid electrician apprentice identification card at all times while on the job and to register for related instruction. Your apprentice identification card is only valid for the sponsor with whom you are registered and carries an expiration date.

Connecticut Job & Career ConneCTionIf you leave a sponsor and go to work for another sponsor, you must be re-registered. You must be accompanied by a journey person while on the job site.

Each apprentice must attend school for related classroom instruction as well as completing his/her on-the-job training.

Record all your hours in your Apprenticeship Handbook (record “blue” book, monthly journal). It is your responsibility to keep track of your on the job training and classroom hours.

Your apprenticeship is valid only for the number of years/hours that is listed on your registration agreement. Failure to complete the required on-the-job training hours and related classroom instruction in this time frame will result in your termination from the program.
