"...What does electrician helper Do?"

Electrician helper plays an important role in any electrical project. This is the stage where you will develop the skills needed to become a good electrician.

Become a good listener and be prepared to do a lot of grunt work for your contractor or other journeymen electrician. Patience is really the key here.

Showing your enthusiasm to work is another key. I know from my experience, my boss paid all my trade school fees because I always do more than what's expected of me.

You really have to look at it in your employers perspective. They are always thinking...what can this person do for me?

Your job is to make him/her see that he's got it right when he hired YOU! Nobody wants to hire a lazy, non-contributing person.

Your duties will vary depending on your skills. The general guidelines is most likely you will be picking up parts and bringing it to the job site.

You will be the go-to guy/girl so to speak. Getting tools for your journeyman. So familiarity with tool name is crucial. Learning "electrical parts" is extremely important because you will most likely hand parts to your partner.

You will learn how to use multitesters, conduit benders, proper wire sizes and many more as you progress.

Ability to get along with other people is a skill you must have. Ask plenty of questions. I am blessed to have great electricians who took the time to help me understand some of the knowledge I now have. Do the same.

Take classes. If you belong in the union, take their apprenticeship program. IBEW is a great source!

If you work for a contractor, go to a training classes offered by private trade sectors (I listed somewhere on the website).

Online school is always a good alternative for people who has limited time. You can join the military or reserve and still get the training you want.

As you can see there are so many choices! The only thing left to do is pick your route and...just do it!
